Jasmin
Herro

Over the last decade I have worked with ASX 200 businesses, governments and communities to deliver comprehensive and compliant Indigenous participation and impact programs.

I build programs in partnership with IPP-exposed businesses on large-scale contracts. We tailor these programs to deliver positive results for clients and to build capability and capacity in Indigenous businesses and employees.

Australia's biggest procurers of products and services face more risks to their reputations than ever before.

I work directly with:

  • Boards

  • Senior business leaders

To strategically manage the escalating financial, regulatory, compliance and reputational risks associated with:

  • The Indigenous Procurement Policy (IPP)

My story

Thirty-two years in business. One lesson.

I have been in business since 1994. One lesson has held throughout: capacity and capability are the asset.

Build both, in yourself and in your people.

One solution for IPP risk and impact.

I founded JHERRO in 2014 to build for Australia’s largest contractors what I had built in my own businesses. In 2026 I extended that work with procurement and governance partners. Together we deliver comprehensive solutions for clients and manage their risk.

  • Procurement work. Indigenous businesses that can deliver this scope, at this scale, to this standard.
  • Crisis work. A bid closing, an audit due, a target to recover, a supplier’s ownership in question.
  • The approach. Relationships built before the bid. Plans written for delivery. Suppliers mentored to hold the contract.
  • The Office of Indigenous Participation. Central coordination, accountability and risk management across employment, governance, strategy, procurement and supply chains. Each program is tailored to the organisation’s needs.
  • The scoping audit. Every Office engagement starts with what your record says: the gaps, the risks and the solutions.

“Built to hold up at audit. Built to win the next bid. Built for lasting impact.”

Outback Talent

A placement is a start. A career is the outcome.

I founded Outback Talent in 2023 to place Indigenous people in skilled roles and keep them there.

  • Role-ready. Security-cleared Indigenous candidates, with technology a core strength.
  • Supported. Mentoring for every candidate, their manager and their support network at home.
  • Backed. Standing backfill, so a role never sits empty.

Outback Talent is the employment engine behind the Office of Indigenous Participation.

2013

Tjindgarmi and Teter Mek

They asked for a range. They got a curriculum.

OfficeMax asked me for an Indigenous product range. I proposed an education program.

  • Tjindgarmi. More than a hundred office and school products, sold nationally, now through Winc.
  • Teter Mek. Storybooks, workbooks and lesson plans for primary classrooms, written with Aboriginal teachers.
  • The Teter Mek Foundation. Funded from the profits of both.

Impact, by design.

2012

Outback Global

I have sat on the supplier’s side of the table.

Outback Global began with one question at a Supply Nation buyer event: could an Indigenous business supply uniforms and workwear at scale?

  • Scale. Within three years, sourcing directly from more than fifty factories across Australia, Asia and the Pacific, with offices in China and the United States.
  • Recognition. Supply Nation Supplier of the Year, 2013.

Now I sit beside the buyer.

Who we supplied
  • Boeing
  • Qantas
  • Telstra
  • BHP
  • John Holland
  • CIMIC
  • Newcrest
  • Coles
  • Australia Post
  • Westpac
  • NAB
  • Macquarie
  • Defence
  • Prime Minister and Cabinet

2010

iSustainable

Two hundred buyers on the list. I rang every one.

I founded iSustainable to advise corporate and government buyers building commercial supplier diversity programs.

  • One of the first Indigenous businesses certified by Supply Nation.
  • Presented at Supply Nation’s inaugural conference, alongside more than thirty certified businesses.

Certification put me on the list. Calling put me in the room.

1999 to 2009

Subway

Seven stores. Two hundred people. One system.

Seven Subway stores across Sydney, Wollongong and Shellharbour, with two hundred staff and eleven managers.

  • Compliance manager for Subway across seventeen stores in greater Sydney, 2000 to 2002.
  • Grounds maintenance on the NSW Police contract, with Transfield, now Ventia.
  • Clear ownership, firm standards, and people trained to hold them.

Two hundred people run on systems and trust.

“Every business I built grew the same way. I invested in capacity and capability, in myself and in the people around me. People grew. Businesses grew. Everyone became more resilient. Capacity and capability compound.”

Country

A share of every engagement funds the Teter Mek Foundation.

I set up the Teter Mek Foundation so teachers and students of every background can connect with their local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. JHERRO funds it from its profits.

It has funded two storybooks, with workbooks for years 4 and 5 and lesson plans written by three Aboriginal teachers. Next: a storybook from every state and territory.
